To start, I have a background in installing car audio and electronics. I was MECP certified in the past, Mobile Electronics Certified Professional, and did car audio installation for Best Buy. Let that color is your interpretation of my review how you like. All that said, this was NOT the monster of an install I thought it was. I have a 2011 A6 with HNav+ so I had to drop the glovebox and remove the AC controls from the dash, that was a lot easier than I expected. The glovebox drops with five 8mm bolts and the AC controls come out by sliding two thin plastic cards in the top corners of the seam at the top off the controller and pulling HARD. Seriously, give it a good yank. You’ll feel like you’re pulling too hard, you’re not. From there, the connections are a lot simpler than I thought, match everything up. I stashed the unit on top of the glove box and stuck the antenna on the side. Put it all back together and sync your phone up. I did have to up the volume setting in the setup menu, that’s the only real “adjustment” I had to do. Very glad I bought this!

Bought this for my 2012 Audi S4, had to purchase radio removal tool in addition, but that was inexpensive. Really impressed with ease of installation, but Audi leaves their wiring very short, making it a little challenging to maneuver the head unit and AC control panel. But I think most people with a little know-how should be able to take this as DIY project. Installation took me a bit less than 60 minutes, after some prep and research. Very pleasantly surprised with ease of integration with my android phone and the display and operation.

I bought the road top carplay adapter for my new Audi S5, but it is not yet installed. I bought the same item one year ago and it still works perfectly in my current Audi S5. It‘s the best carplay enhancement you can buy for this car, because it works seamlessly with the original Audi MMI 3G!

After a failed attempt to retrofit my SQ5 with CarPlay using an Android box, I accidentally came across replacement monitors with CarPlay. Besides the CarPlay functionality, I liked how visually appealing the larger touchscreens are. After comparing the specs of countless Android solutions, I happened upon the Linux HD screen from Roat Top.

I was faced with the question of 8.8" or 12.3". Since both versions are identical in price, I opted for the larger option.

The product was delivered super quickly. It was neatly wrapped and securely packaged, and included a bound, color-coded manual.

Not only the packaging, but also the contents are of very high quality. I managed the installation within 1.5 hours (I've had Android boxes hidden behind the radio before, which unfortunately never worked properly).

After installation, I excitedly booted up the system, connected Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, and EVERYTHING (wireless CarPlay, wired CarPlay, AirPlay) worked immediately as described.
