BMW I3 EVO CarPlay - Pros and cons

Funktion ist gegeben – CarPlay funktioniert bei Entry EVO mit 6,5‑Zoll‑Bildschirm.
Box und Kabelsatz passen gut und machen einen wertigen Eindruck.
Negativ:
Durch die hohen Zollgebühren nach Europa (Deutschland) relativiert sich der angegebene Preis deutlich.
Die Funktion sowie die Einstellung der 8 Schalter auf der Box werden in der Anleitung nicht erläutert. Dadurch ist eine zeitaufwändige Online‑Suche nach der korrekten Konfiguration erforderlich.
Die Audioausgabe in CarPlay war in meinem Fall aufgrund einer fehlenden AUX‑Quelle in der Head Unit nicht ohne zusätzlichen Aufwand und Codierung möglich.
Die Farbcodierung der Displaykabel ist für meinen Anwendungsfall nicht korrekt. Auch hierzu fehlen Hinweise in der Anleitung.

Fazit:
Funktioniert grundsätzlich, ist aber teurer und deutlich komplizierter in der Einrichtung als erwartet.

Functionality is given – CarPlay works with Entry EVO and a 6.5-inch display.
The box and wiring harness fit well and give a high-quality impression.
Cons:

High import/customs fees to Europe (Germany) significantly increase the actual cost, making the stated price misleading.
The manual does not explain the functionality or configuration of the 8 switches on the box. This requires time-consuming online research to find the correct settings.
In my case, CarPlay audio output was not possible without additional effort and coding due to a missing AUX source in the head unit.
The color coding of the display cables is incorrect for my application, and this is not explained in the manual.

Conclusion:
Works in general, but is more expensive and much more complicated to set up than expected.

All is good and fits perfectly, there is a small gap under climate panel for this device. I was upset I will need to use 3,5mm in the armrest but finally I dont, it works perfectly by Bluetooth. Yeah there are some very minor bugs and scenarios when I need to reconnect my phone, but in the end of the day this is the best solution.

Works fine, it's an awesome upgrade

The installation was a breeze and there are plenty of videos online to help during the process. So far I've been using wireless Apple Carplay for a couple months and I think it's been a great upgrade to my 2016 BMW F20. I've never had any glitches while using it, but before I start any drive, I have to make sure the bluetooth is connected to the car because I might not have audio at first. Music and phone calls sound the same as before, since I connect directly to the car's BT. No external microphone installation was needed. Customer support was also great and future software updates seem pretty easy. Overall, I really like it

Product is fantastic! Works completely seamlessly, is very easy to use, and is super high quality! I would love to give it 5 stars but the only reasons I feel I can’t was due to the instructions. The install itself was relatively easy but the installation instructions were not very straightforward and often skipped over things and left me with questions about things it didn’t go into enough depth about. Overall, amazing product, but would be nice for some updated written or detailed/in-depth video instructions!
